Rebekah, please tell us your story.
In a women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had a special word for me. The woman who was praying spoke over my life. She said, “You will write books. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
I went home to my three small children and told my husband about it. I was 26 years old. I told no one else and literally forgot about the encounter until my children had been reared.
In 2006 I began writing about family, a newsletter for my Sunday School group, and a few articles about ride experiences on our motorcycle. As I kept writing, God began to speak. Through an event on social media, I gave that entire genre to God and asked Him to do what He wanted with it.
He did. Every day I ask Him what His people need to hear, and He speaks to my heart. As long as He leads me, I will write.
Can you tell readers about a favorite devotion in your book? Or one, that people have especially responded to over time?
This makes me wish I had written down the ones that had the most responses! What I have discovered is that God centers His message on His love. All messages are given in love from God to His creation.
By writing about ordinary everyday occurrences and seeing the hand of God in them, even the hard things, even the best things, people see that they can relate to God because He relates to them. He’s with them and loving them in the laundry room, in the waiting room, in the balcony, in the garden, on the road, and everywhere. Natural life becomes supernatural when we apply God’s Word to it.
God has gifted Rebekah with the ability to look at the natural and see the supernatural. Both Rebekah and her husband Danny have hearts to share the Gospel and the riches of life in Christ. They have served in the local church and in ministry to motorcyclists. Danny is an ordained minister, and they have been Bible study teachers for many years. Rebekah also speaks at women’s retreats and conferences. Her tag line says it all, GOD LOVES YOU AND HE’S FOR YOU.
What made you decide to indie publish?
We prayed! And prayed. And, I wrangled. And prayed some more. Finally, God just opened the door and we felt it was His plan. I thank my husband so much for supporting me and helping me with decisions that were beyond me. We chose a 4 generation Arkansas Christian publishing house/printing service. Our decision came because we wanted to have the book available at an affordable price for practically anyone and to have it with us everywhere we went to speak and share Christ.
We are excited now to have the book on CD for those who listen to books while driving or prefer that learning style. We also have kindle and nook versions. And we are working on youtube videos.
Thank you so much for participating with me today, Rebekah! Please leave us with where we can connect with you and buy your book.
